We’ve all been there, racing against the clock trying to type fast for work or trying to improve our typing speeds using the likes of typing lessons or typing games. But did you know that there are people who have hit speeds of 300 WPM? That’s super mind blowing, right? It turns out that, for some, typing is an inherent kind of in-born talent, a feat that has got them into the history books of typing speed records.

Well, let’s dive into some of the extraordinary stories from the fastest typists today and from the era gone by.

Carole Forristall Waldschlager Bechen

Carole is credited as the fastest typist on a manual typewriter in a five minute test!

The typing writer queen was born and raised in Dixon, Illinois, USA. See, her journey to fame isn’t your typical story though. It began with a simple fascination for the clack-clack sound made by the typewriter.

She pushed until she mastered the art of using this mechanical device which led her to participate in numerous typing competitions. The peak of her career came on April 2, 1959 when she wowed her audience with a typing speed of 176 WPM on a 5-minute test.

Later in life her accomplishment was recognized by Guinness World Records which has pretty much cemented her legacy as one of the fastest typists ever!

Hank Torres

In this realm of extraordinary typing achievements this hands-free hero from Florida, USA, Hank Torres stands out.

Yes that’s right, typing without using your hands! Hank’s journey to elite-level typing speed began with a terrible accident that left him paralyzed from shoulders downwards which made typing normally a challenge to him.

As they say, when life gives you lemons, make some lemonades! This is what he did exactly. Hank just wouldn’t let this shortcoming hold him back. His determination and passion for technology made him explore different alternatives for his paralysed hands.

On January 28, 2011 during the Assistive Technology Industry Association conference in Orlando, Torres set a record for the fastest hands free typing speed. He used head and facial-motion capture technology where he typed a specific 75-character passage in just 83.09 seconds.

This groundbreaking achievement showed how assistive technology could empower someone and Hank went down in the Guinness World Records, a spot he very well earned.

The story of Hank just shows us that we can go beyond and around our limitations with the right mindset and determination.

Barbara Blackburn

Born in 1920 in Missouri, Barbara is known as one the fastest typists using the DVORAK layout keyboard. If you don’t know what this is all about then it’s simply an alternative to the standard QWERTY layout designed by one Dr. William Dealey back in the 1930s. The idea behind the layout was to increase typing efficiency.

It’s worth noting though that Barbara actually started out with the QWERTY standard keyboard layout only that she felt it slowed her down. She decided to explore other layouts and long story short, she found her soulmate in the DVORAK simplified layout.

Her speed skyrocketed after the switch. In fact, she became so fast that she found herself in history books.

In 1976, her exceptional skills caught the eye of Guinness World Records and she earned her spot there by achieving a maintained speed of 150 WPM and a peak speed of 212 WPM, something many of us can only dream of to date.

Her talents back then made her somewhat a national sensation. In 1985 Barbara was hosted on the popular late night show, the David Letterman Show where she showcased her skills.

Though she passed away in 2008, Barbara Blackburn’s legacy continues to inspire typists to date, showing that the right tools matter and you don’t have to abide by the norm to do something great.

Rocket

You’ve probably seen those movie scenes where the main character’s fingers fly across the keyboard and you thought to yourself how cool it would be to type with such superhuman skill.

As it turns out someone actually can! Currently the world’s fastest typist is a 17-year old Youtuber that goes by the name Rocket. This kid’s speed is exceptional as he’s able to achieve a speed of 300 WPM on a QWERTY keyboard!

The fascinating part is that he wasn’t always this fast. In an interview with PC Mag, Rocket explained that his journey to such speed began with playing typing games and Minecraft games and soon he realized he could type very fast and he wanted to improve.

He set milestones which he hit and in no time he reached 200 WPM. At this point he felt accomplished and he stopped for a while but soon he got into a routine of practice until he hit his current record of 304 WPM.

What’s even scary is that he still hopes to beat that ‘rocket’ fast speed typing speed soon!

Omkar Palav

In July 2024 Omkar Palav, an IT pro originally from Mumbai, India now residing in Adelaide, South Australia, achieved a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to type using his nose!

He managed to type the letters of the alphabet, that is, A to Z, while inserting spaces between each letter in an impressive speed of 20.51 seconds. His time beat the previous record of 25.66 seconds that had been set by Vinod Kumar.

Omkar’s achievement was driven by the desire to make unique and verifiable accomplishments. He dedicated a month for rigorous typing practice training and practice ensuring he followed the strict Guinness World Records rules of putting his hands behind his back during the attempt. His focus was on accuracy and speed and it paid off quite well.

His determination and desire earned him the title of the “Typing Man of Australia”.

His story goes to show the need for us to push our personal limitations and explore challenges. You might just go down in history for something.

In Summary

In a nutshell, these are just a few stories from some of the fastest typing speed legends that just go to show that you can actually carve your own journey and space in typing. Maybe you could choose to explore other keyboards like Barbara or have some fun breaking your own records like Rocket. Whichever your pathway is, it’s all about finding the zeal and pushing yourself beyond your limits. So the next time you sit to type or play typing games, remember that you could be one key away from something extraordinary!

Typing speed videos can be quite entertaining to watch but the real goldmine is in the comment section! In fact, there are some hilarious comments that are even more entertaining than the videos. Talking of funny comments, here is a compilation of hilarious reactions to typing speed videos that will leave you in stitches.

Imagine Having an Online Argument With Someone Who Types 150 WPM!

“Imagine having an online argument with this person”

This hilarious comment is a reaction to an old video of JaniceStudies on Youtube showing how she types at 150+ WPM whilst explaining a bit of what she does to achieve that. She is so fast that she doesn’t even break a sweat! The comment is a cheeky reference to how it would feel trying to argue with this Youtuber.

Come to think of it, at such high WPM speeds you would probably be still catching up with your thoughts and words when they’re already typing out entire responses in the blink of an eye. It might even feel like a race between ideas and fingers!

One other comment on the video hilariously noted that the whole typing experience sounds like rain pouring fast on a metal roof.

It sure does feel like it!

The Guy Who Writes Those Terms & Conditions Agreements!

“This is the guy who wrote the terms and conditions”

This guy on Youtube demonstrated 100 WPM vs 200 WPM vs 300 WPM on a Monkeytype test tool. One user on the comment section joked that he might be the one who writes those terms and conditions.

Frankly, he might really be the one who wrote those ridiculously long terms and condition clauses! This could even be the guy behind your immediate AI responses.

While you’re still fumbling with your 500 word essay relying on autocorrect he would have already typed a 50-paged user agreement policy document!

The Employee Types So Hard That He Needs to Replace the Keyboard Everyday!

“Bro doesn’t need a salary. He needs 1 new keyboard every day.”

This comment is a reaction to a funny video on Youtube showing a male customer service professional typing not just fast but so hard, probably trying to make sure that line of people moves faster. The guy in the video is doing more than typing; he is literally punching every key like it owes him money.

Honestly the poor keyboard is holding on for dear life. That poor thing is clicking so loud it sounds like the old-school typewriters in those cheesy historical romance films.

CHECKOUT TIME!

“Pov: the cashier when your mom goes to get something else and leaves you in line”

This comment is a hilarious reaction to a video of a Japanese office girl with a speed of 443 WPM!

We’ve all been in that awkward moment when you’re happily shopping in the store with your mom, you double and triple check that you’ve gotten everything. But once your turn comes for the items to be scanned, your mom remembers the toothpaste she loves and off she goes!

At that moment time slows down and you can swear that either the cashier deliberately increases her pace. Your anxiety is all over the place and the cashier will look like she is the fastest typist in the world.

This girl in this particular video is in an office setting, posture right and all, typing out like her life depends on it. The irony of it all is her colleague is trying to locate the letter A and he’s thinking to himself ‘I’m gonna get fired today’.

The Guy Who Responds Before You Finish Typing

“Bro is the type of guy to send ‘sure’

You: Wanna hang ou- wait what?”

This comment is a reaction to a video of what 500 WPM would look like on a CharaChorder. The WPM speed is so fast that it feels like the guy is creepily a psychic. Honestly these are the types of friends we all need. A friend like this is more reliable than emergency services; imagine he’s your emergency contact and before you finish typing help he’s outside your door!

MonkeyType Worst Nightmare

“Bro types like Flint Lockwood from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs“

If you’ve watched the “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” animation then you know what a keyboard maniac Flint Lockwood is. Well, this guy showing off his Monkeytype test skill is definitely Flint Lockwood in real life. His aim is simple; type so fast that Monkeytype invalidates his score and he nails this a number of times in the video!

Baby ‘MythicalRocket’?

“Rare footage of ‘mythicalrocket’ in his childhood”

In case you missed it, MythicalRocket otherwise known as ‘Rocket’ is a teenage prodigy who made headlines in 2024 when he hit a typing speed of 305 words per minute (WPM)! Well, it looks like this 4 year old with a speed of 41 WPM is the baby version of rocket.

This kid’s mom set him a Monkeytype test and recorded him typing a paragraph. Most of us at that age couldn’t even say the full alphabet without fumbling!

In fact, the 4 year old is in the video typing faster than the average adult WPM!

Rap god Meets Typing god

“He is officially the Eminem of typing.”

Just when you thought It doesn’t get worse than this, wrong! Here comes a guy who’d leave Eminem nodding in respect. This guy was on a world record page where he was up and about his fingers all over his keyboard until he found his match on the page. If Eminem can rap 99 words in 16.45 seconds, this guy already wrote them in 6 seconds and is probably bored to death waiting for the next line.

Seriously, at this point this is torture to any online WPM typing test tools. Good thing we know where to point our fingers when our typing test platforms get a technical glitch.

In a Nutshell

These are just a few hilarious reactions to some of the world’s fastest typing videos. Judging from the videos the idea of aliens living amongst us doesn’t seem so ridiculous anymore. There are some pretty fast typists that just stand a cut above many of us. There are also some hilarious comments that always spice up these amazing typing videos!

Ultimate Typing Championship (UTC)

The Ultimate Typing Championship has historically been arguably one of the most popular mega typing tournaments worldwide with its first edition held back in 2009. It is usually hosted by Das Keyboard, one of the leading manufacturers of mechanical keyboards.

It’s with noting, though, that the last mega UTC typing competition was held back in 2020. You can compete in the UTC tournament from anywhere in the world, albeit, you need to be among the very best to get a seat at the table!

In the 2020 edition, for example, the typists needed a minimum qualifying speed of 170.7 WPM to make it to the 25 selected to compete.

UTC has traditionally offered some amazing prizes for winners. The first edition held back in 2009 culminated in a grand finale at the SXSW Interactive Festival, with a $2,000 grand prize for the winner. Sean Wrona emerged the fastest typing that inaugural edition.

The first round of the finals in that inaugural edition featured a 480-word standard English text where Sean Wrona set an unofficial speed typing record of 163 WPM. The second round presented an even more challenging 360-word, non-standard text containing special characters.

Again, Wrona dominated this with an impressive 124 WPM speed, further cementing his name as one of the very best typists in the world to date.

In the last edition of the UTC (2020), the winner Anthony(chak) dethroned Sean Wrona in an intense battle to take home a cash prize of $5000, a keyboard and typing accessories. The first runners up walked away with $500, a keyboard and typing accessories while the second runners up got a keyboard and typing accessories.

All of the top 25 typists got a premium Das Keyboard 4 Professional mechanical keyboard as a reward for completing what were certainly very challenging typing races that tested their speed, accuracy, endurance, and ability under pressure.

The 2020 edition had 414 registered participants, who completed over 94,000 typing tests on the competitive typing website TyprX.com.

The selected participants were from around the world including the United States, Israel, Norway, the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand. The participants were a blend of high school and college students, computer science and medical majors, software developers, and there was also a female esports professional in the elite pack.

Wrapping up

Well, these are just but some of the typing tournaments have really transformed typing into a competitive and a thrilling gaming experience which is more or less like an eSport. The beauty is that platforms like Keymash have daily or weekly competitions which you can hop into anytime and from anywhere to hone your typing skills as you challenge yourself with others. Once you’ve hit elite level typing speeds you can explore competing in some mega typing events like UTC where you can test yourself against the very best out there. Who knows you might win and get some cash and other prizes for your typing prowess!

Typing has been a valuable skill for as long as we can remember. It has been the key aspect to our everyday lives in places like work, school and pretty much everywhere. But. we are now in the era of AI, one of the most disruptive technologies that’s changing the way we have always done virtually everything. Now, you’re probably wondering how AI will impact typing as we’ve always known it. Is it the beginning of the end for typing as we have known it? Lets explore!

How Typing Has Evolved Over the Years

Before delving into how AI will change typing, it is perhaps best to understand how typing has evolved over the years with technology.

Now, typing dates back to the 1860s when it first became a thing with the introduction of the first successful typewriter. This success was closely followed with the introduction of the now standard keyboard layout, QWERTY, in 1873.

The turning point historically, however, began in the 1980s where personal computers became a thing, transforming typing from an office setting skill to an everyday requirement.

In the 1990s and early 2000s mobile phones became popular as more people around the world got access and learnt how to communicate on small gadgets instead of the bulky computers.

The rise of these devices led to the likes of touch-based smartphones, autocorrect and swipe-based inputs.

Soon after, AI-powered tools like virtual keyboards and apps like Grammarly followed and started delivering typing corrections and suggestions in real-time.

This was actually the birth of AI in typing even before the buzz around ChatGPT and generative AI. Yes, even before ChaGPT, the likes of predictive text and autocomplete features powered by AI were already helping us make typing better and easier.

In fact, in the past decade or so, many smartphones and apps were already using machine learning models to do things like correcting typos, suggesting the next word or finishing sentences for you.

In other words typing had already been impacted by AI, albeit, at a minute level. The big question, though, is how it will change now that AI is expected to get better and much more intelligent in the coming years.

The Myths & Truths of AI Replacing Typing

You’ve probably heard it in the news or read about how AI is taking over jobs. It’s true that AI is changing jobs that require typing like copywriting. But, it isn’t expected to kill AI killing typing altogether, at least not anytime soon.

Here is why:

◾AI Relies on Typing for Text Prompts

For one whereas it is true that as of now we have become over reliant on AI, remember AI is not an independent tool.

At the moment most of these consumer-facing AI platforms are still built such that you have to enter text prompts to get AI generated feedback. Typically, you might then need to refine your prompts until you get the results you’re looking for.

From this perspective AI will likely reduce traditional typing but it is less likely to completely replace entire typing!

It’s likely that it will keep complimenting typing for best results in the foreseeable future. Besides, typing is expected to still be a core skill for most jobs like programming, data entry and many more in the coming years.

◾Voice typing is Not there, Yet

If you’ve interacted with either Siri or Alexa know the struggle with using voice commands. Sometimes AI-based models are not accurate in picking up voice commands especially, among non-native speakers. There are also places where using voice commands instead of typing tends to be impractical.

For example, you certainly don’t want to speak aloud to issue commands in a public place like a coffee shop or even in an office setting. In such a scenario you are definitely better off typing out those private messages or writing personal notes!

◾Not Everyone Likes AI-generated Texts!

While most companies and people are loving the ease of using AI to generate content, some still prefer the creativity, emotions and originality of human-generated content. In schools, for example, students are still getting penalized for submitting plagiarized and AI-generated work.

We’ve already seen cases where students lost scholarships or were even expelled for using AI for schoolwork.

So, while it is true that AI will play a major part in things like creating drafts for assignments and learning resources, typing work will still be needed in schoolwork and such areas.

The Dangers of AI Replacing Typing

Truth be told, we are all getting heavily reliant on tools like ChatGPT. As we’ve mentioned, the likes of students are relying on AI tools like ChatGPT for auto-generated essays and thesis.

Employees at work are now heavily relying on AI tools for workflows email text generation. Even authors are now using AI to write or at least co-write their books.

Though AI has undeniably made our lives better, it is no brainer that typing allows us to think before we type, adding that human touch to both our verbal and written speech.

With technologies like voice typing and AI generated texts are we really achieving that?

While AI tools and models like ChatGPT and Copilot generate content unique to each user, they tend to lack the originality and the creativity that stem from human emotions. Of course, AI will become more and more refined in future. It will get better at creating better outputs but that originality with a human touch will still be a problem.

The Future of AI and Typing

So, will AI completely take over typing?

Well, despite our over reliance on AI-powered tools, No AI is not here to replace but to coexist with typing!

It will likely change traditional typing or rather, it will make typing even much better. AI will give us smarter tools in predicting and auto correcting texts meaning you are bound to spend less time trying to correct your mistakes the old manual way.

Thanks to AI we will be able to type and more or less have that assistant to get more work done faster.

It will be here to help us refine ideas and thoughts!

Wrapping up

In a nutshell, AI will certainly impact every facet of our lives including typing but it’s likely that it won’t kill it altogether. In fact, AI is expected to keep coexisting with typing. AI is expected to get smarter in understanding context as you type. It will thus get better in anticipation of what you’re trying to say. It is thus bound to transform the traditional typing into a much better experience in the coming years.

Have you ever thought about what keyboards might look like in the future? It is one of those peripheral devices that has changed over the years from those early mechanical typewriters to modern types like the sleek, ultra-thin PC keyboards designed for comfort and efficiency. Of course, the evolution of the keyboard has been in tandem with tech.

In other words the future of the keyboard is hinged on what the future of tech looks like. In fact, we are already seeing the emergence of new technologies like AI, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and even brain-computer interfaces and it’s interesting to see how they will impact the future keyboard.

A Brief History of the Modern Keyboard

Before we even delve into predicting how the future keyboard will look like, it is perhaps best to glance back to how the modern keyboard came to be.

Now, it all began with the typewriters. Yes, those enormous, noisy machines that took a lot of finger muscle to operate. The modern QWERTY keyboard was inspired by the QWERTY typewriter created by Christopher Latham Sholes in the 1870s. The inspiration behind this keyboard was to minimize typewriter jams.

Back then the traditional typewriters used individual type bars for each character. The bars would strike the paper when a key was pressed, but if two bars were activated in quick succession then they would often jam.

The QWERTY keyboard layout is still very much the standard and most widely adopted layout to date.

As tech evolved in the 20th century the old mechanical typewriters were replaced by what are known as electric typewriters. These types essentially replaced mechanical components with electric motors, making typing much easier and faster. One of the most popular models at that time was the IBM Selectric typewriter. This keyboard model replaced individual type bars with a spherical typing element, known as the typeball.

This typeball rotated to the correct character position, and when a key was pressed, the ball would strike the paper directly. The jamming problem had been solved as there was no need for multiple type bars to physically collide or interfere with one another!

Long story short, today keyboards have become more sophisticated and diverse. There are now options like membrane type keyboards which are soft, quiet, and ideal for use in places like. There are also types like mechanical keyboards in the market which use what’s known as mechanical switches. They tend to have a nice typing feel and they are quite popular among pro-leve typists and gamers.

Technology has also given birth to the likes of foldable and wireless keyboards thanks to development in wireless tech like RadioFrequency and Bluetooth technology.

It’s worth noting that there are already some interesting attempts to innovate like what’s known as the Charachorder. Unlike a standard keyboard where each key corresponds to one letter or character, this input device operates on a chording system. So, instead of pressing one key at a time, you press multiple keys simultaneously (like chords in music) to produce letters or characters.

Well, human-computer interaction is advancing pretty quickly, which means that the keyboard as we know today may soon be replaced by something altogether new.

What’s the Future of Keyboards?

Judging from the evolving consumer trends and tech, the keyboards of the future are expected to be more flexible, adaptive, and who knows, even invisible!

Let’s take a sneak peek into some of the most exciting advancements that are expected to impact keyboard technology in the coming year:

➤ The Future Keyboard Ergonomics

Keyboard designs today have already shifted towards delivering comfort and efficiency. They tend to be geared towards reducing strain on the hands and wrists whilst improving typing efficiency.

Again, there are already attempts to tweak the keyboard standard layout even further.

The Charachorder is a great example of this, albeit it hasn’t really been able to take off. This device has attempted to go compact than a traditional QWERTY keyboard and it uses fewer keys, around 10-12 keys. It’s thus much more smaller and more portable compared to standard keyboard

The future keyboard might even be smaller and more portable. It might even inculcate more advanced ergonomic features, like adaptive key layouts that shift to match your hand positioning. It could also take advantage of biometric feedback to adjust key placement based on your finger size, hand position, or muscle fatigue.

There is even a possibility that AI-powered heat maps might even be used to determine the most comfortable typing posture for you!

➤ Virtual and Augmented Reality Keyboards

Imagine wearing AR glasses and seeing a floating keyboard appear directly in front of you. You would text in the air while having sensors track your movements, as opposed to physically pushing keys. AR/VR keyboards are already being tested by companies, enabling typing without a physical device.

There is a challenge, though. Achieving a natural feel is one of the biggest obstacles with AR/VR keyboards. Haptic feedback, or rather, tiny vibrations or sensations will have to be used to simulate the feeling of pushing keys so that it feels less like you’re tapping into thin air.

If this technology is refined, this would revolutionize typing, particularly for people who work in virtual settings.

➤ Gesture-Based Keyboards

Why bother pressing keys when you can just move your fingers? Simple hand gestures could eventually take the role of traditional typing on gesture-based keyboards. Imagine if typing was similar to how certain smart TVs allow you to manipulate the screen with your hand.

This could provide a different method of using computers without requiring fine motor skills, which could be very helpful for people with disabilities.

➤ Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs)

Though it sounds like something from a science fiction movie, BCIs are already being developed. BCIs are a form of technology that allow people to operate computers with their minds. In other words all you have to do is to just think about what you wanted to say and the computer would do the rest, rather than having you type out words one letter at a time.

Although BCIs are still in their early stages, they have the potential to eventually do away with the need for keyboards entirely. Imagine if you could just imagine your messages into existence and never have to type again. That is the type of advanced technology we have in mind!

➤ Adaptive and AI-Powered Keyboards

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already here and our interactions with technology are changing due the recent developments in that space. Of course, keyboards are no different. It is thus expected that keyboards in future will eventually start picking up on your typing preferences and change to accommodate them.

For example, the predictive text might get to the point where it can predict your next words, freeing you up to continue typing uninterrupted. Depending on what you’re doing, such as coding, playing games, or writing emails, the keyboard layout could even change automatically to accommodate your work.

➤ E-Ink and Flexible Keyboards

Another interesting advancement in the world of keyboards is the development of keyboards with customizable layouts. Think of having a keyboard that uses e-ink technology to change its keys according to the language or function you need. This will be a life changer, especially for multilingual users or professionals who have to frequently switch between different tasks.

The icing on the cherry is that this type of keyboard may even be able to fold or wrap up for easy portability if they are constructed of flexible materials created from ultra-thin materials.

Think of having a keyboard that is small enough to fit in your pocket but can expand when you need it!

The Link Between the Future of Human-Computer Interaction and the Future of the Keyboard

All said and done, the future of the keyboard has a lot to do with the future of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) will contribute to this evolution. HCI is essentially a niche study that focuses on optimizing how users and computers interact by designing interactive computer interfaces that satisfy users’ needs.

As computers become more embedded in our everyday lives, our methods of interacting with them will certainly keep changing. For example, although it is not anticipated that voice recognition technology will totally replace keyboards, it is quickly becoming an important part of our technological interactions. AI-powered smart assistants like Google Assistant and Siri, are already demonstrating that typing may not always be required.

Touch and gesture controls are also becoming more and more common as more gadgets are using them, which makes it easier to move away from conventional input techniques.

Wrapping up

In a nutshell it’s somewhat difficult to point a finger at how the future of the keyboard will look like. The physical keyboard might not be going away anytime soon but there will likely be big changes in the years to come. We expect that the future keyboard will be more compact, more portable and most importantly, an even more intelligent input device. It will undergo a significant change as a ripple effect to disruptive tech like AI, AR VR and the likes. Who knows, it might even be invisible in the long run!

When it comes to improving your typing speed, accuracy and touch typing skills, a good keyboard certainly comes in quite handy.

Whether you’re a writer, programmer, student , office worker or any other niche, a good keyboard is the perfect way to improve your typing speed and productivity. You’re probably wondering which keyboard can help you type faster and better.

Well, here is a review of the top 5 best mechanical and membrane type keyboards in the US market you can go for:

SteelSeries Apex 5 keyboard

The SteelSeries Apex 5 is one the best mechanical keyboards you can go for at a reasonable price.

One of the best ways to ramp up your typing speed WPM is to find the best typing games online you can enjoy as you practice. Talking of typing games, there are two typing game platforms that stand out in the internet, that is, TypingBird.com and TypingGames.Zone. TypingGames.Zone is a relatively well-established platform while TypingBird is slowly carving its own place as one of the best platforms to find typing games free.
Well, in this quick guide we’ll do a side by side review of these two platforms on different aspects to determine which reigns superior.

Let’s get started, shall we?

1. User Interface (UI) and Design

When it comes to matters of UI and design, TypingBird is certainly up there with the very best typing practice platforms.

For starters, it has a clean design with vibrant color-schemes coupled with nice fonts. The typing games feature modern animations that are tailored to capture the attention of every type of learner including kids and adults

The TypingBird platform is also pretty easy to navigate with clear distinct menus to access games, lessons, settings and progress tracking. The typing games have been arranged by categories like Grade, Keys, Age and Genre. It’s also great that you can also sort out the games by filters like Most Liked, Most Played or alphabetically.

TypingGames.Zone alsofeatures a similar lively game-like experience that is appealing to kindergarteners and elementary school kids. The fonts are also legible but the homepage is a bit cluttered.

The platform is also well designed to be responsive across all devices, albeit, mobile users may find it a bit overwhelmed playing games on the platform.

As a new user the platform may seem a bit complex to navigate due to the numerous gaming options, categories plus ads on the display.

2. Speed and Stability

The TypingBird platform is super fast, barely having any sort of delays even at peak usage during gameplay.

It’s thus highly reliable with virtually no freezing or unexpected system crashes. The platform works super well across the major browsers around including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Opera.

The TypingGames.Zone is also quite good when it comes to speed and reliability. You can use the TypingGames.Zone platform on any browser but the experience tends to be much smoother on Chrome.

It’s worth noting that some games do have heavier graphics and complex gaming components. Some typing games can thus be a bit slow to load but you’ll generally have a good experience using TypingGames.Zone.

That said, there are cases where you might experience glitches with progress saving or some freezing mid gaming.

3. Game Types, Modes and Features

TypingBird has a wide range of games that aim to help users boost accuracy, speed and touch typing skills. For example, there are games for kids right from Kindergarten to 8th graders.

You can also find typing games aimed at helping you practice specific keys like home row keys, top row keys, bottom row keys and all row keys.

You could also choose to pick games based on genres like Racing Typing Games, Fighting Typing Games, Shooting Typing Games, Horror Typing Games, Running Typing Games, Animal Typing Games, Fast Paced Typing

The platform also has an easy-to-use dashboard for monitoring progress including your accuracy, speed and missed words

TypingGames.Zone also has a wonderful selection of games from basic word typing tests, different themed games and multiplayer options. You can find some cool typing games for kids right from Pre-K to 8th Grade.

There are also multiplayer games, action games, racing games, puzzle games, games to practice home row keys, type words games, Keys A-Z games, select keys games, tablet compatible games and more.

The platform has a good ranking system that includes badges to recognize personal achievements, leaderboards to compare performance with others and detailed progress analysis to allow users to monitor their growth over time.

4. Typing Lessons

It’s worth noting that TypingBird also includes well-organized typing lessons suitable for beginners and younger learners. In fact, the lessons are organized based on the typing level skill of the learner, like basic typing lessons and beginner typing lessons.

The practice lessons and games are structured in such a way that focus more on learner’s speed, accuracy and finger placement. So, the learner progress is tracked in WPM and percentage accuracy.

TypingGames.Zone on the other hand makes use of gamified lessons to enhance user skills through making education and practice fun rather than teaching basic skills to a total beginner.

5. Pricing

TypingBird offers all free features with no premium packages involved. Yes, all lessons and games are absolutely free from the word go therefore no trial periods. In addition, you don’t need an account to access games and lessons. You might only need one to save and track your progress more effectively..

Most of the TpingGames.Zone games are also free

6. Customer Support

As for support, TypingBird has a nice frequently asked questions section as well as a customer support email and a contact form where you can get dedicated help on any challenges and queries.

Unfortunately, TpingGames.Zone games doesn’t have any contact information for support. They have some social presence on Facebook but they aren’t really that active.

Verdict: Which Free Typing Game Platform is Better?

All said and done, which platform between TypingBird.com and TypingGames.Zone reigns supreme?

Well, generally speaking the two typing games platforms are excellent typing platforms depending on your skill level coupled with taste and preferences:

Best for Beginners: TypingBird’s well-organized lessons and ease of navigation makes it perfect for new users and younger learners. With animated lessons and games, you can get to learn typing in an engaging way.

Wrapping Up

In a nutshell, both TypingBird.com and TypingGames.Zone are awesome typing games platforms. In other words, you can simply take your pick and use the platform that suits you best. For example, you could use TypingBird if you’re a beginner looking for a platform that’s easy to use. You could even blend them both and access a variety of games to improve your typing skills!
